A commerce graduate from BMCC, Pune, she has excellent command over French and has completed MA in Performing Arts from Pune University’s Lalit Kala Kendra, with distinction. Gandharva Mahavidyalaya has honored her with three prizes for securing highest marks in all the centers of India in Nritya Alankaar Examination.
As a soloist, she has widely performed in all the major cities and dance festivals of India, to name a few, Sharad Chandrika Festival in New Delhi, Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Raindrops Festival, All India Classical Dance Festival in Mumbai, Pt. Vasant Rao Deshpande Smriti Samaroha in Nagpur, Naad Surabhi Festival in Bangalore. With her mother, she has performed and conducted workshops thrice in USA, six times in Japan and in Bahrain too.
A recipient of National Scholarship for Dance by Ministry of Human Resources, she has also been honored with Singaar Mani award.
She is an empanelled dancer of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), New Delhi. She is also a member of the International Dance Council of UNESCO. She is a Mumbai Doordarshan approved artiste.
She has been fortunate to perform in front of great artists like Nritya Samrat Pt. Gopi Krishna ji, Pt. Birju Maharaj ji, Smt. Rohini Bhate, Padmashree Sitara Devi, Shri Sunil Kothari, Smt. Saswati Sen, Pt. Samta Prasad ji, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Kishan Maharaj ji, etc. and has received great appreciation from them.

She is a faculty and Guru in the Center for Performing Arts of University of Pune. She runs a Branch of Maneesha Nrityalaya Kathak Dance Institute for the past 14 years, where she is adroitly training the young generation and grooming them to become the artists of tomorrow. Maneesha Nrityalaya was founded by her mother and Guru Mrs. Maneesha Sathe in 1975.
Her choreographic works presented in various stage shows and on the television have brought her a unique recognition as a choreographer. She has been interviewed in the TV show Manasee on Zee TV and has appeared as a judge in Dum Dama Dum on Mumbai Doordarshan. She has performed and choreographed for episodes of ‘Nakshatranche Dene’ telecast on Zee TV.

Nritya Sangam is a confluence of two richest Indian Classical Dance Styles, Kathak and Bharatanatyam. She has presented Sangam with Bharatanatyam dancer Mr. Parimal Phadke in India and abroad. In 2005, they toured USA and gave 18 performances in various cities. They also performed in Houston International Festival and Asian International Festival in Columbus. They also gave a lecture demonstration at the Ohio State University and conducted dance workshops in various cities. Shambhavi and Parimal will be touring USA for concerts again in Apr.-May 2007. |
